GIAMPIERO MONTANARI / pittore e scultore
Bologna
He observes the life within the city walls that bustles peacefully, especially in those roads where steps are accompanied by memory. Light and shade form a fabric that unrolls on the stones, at certain angles it all seems inspired by a hypnotic game. The writing on the walls stayed to tell of the life of before, words stamped here and there, subtitles of settled affairs, images of what once was. There are barely visible letters, handwriting that has almost disappeared, if not for the odd comma that finds more correspondence with suggestion than with reality. The mind flows with these signs together with a sense of liberty that seems to find nourishment, joining with the light, in all that which relies upon emotion. This happens from one shadow to another, on the early morning roads, when the flashes of neon are barely shifting the lethargy of a city still sleeping. He observes and remembers with brushes, the mind melted in the memory whilst his gesture solicits the return of visions, so that everything escapes indistinctness. The painter frames old shop signs that go back in the years and reinforce an emotion that is destined to expand and then scatter in the variety of suggestion, amongst voices and expressions fed by drives that seem to want to unite the molecular taste of the time.
